Even when it works, the Mosquito Magnet demands constant attention. You're driving out to refill a 20-lb propane tank every few weeks, swapping cartridges and nets on their own schedules, cleaning clogged nozzles, and pulling spider webs and pollen out of the intake. It only works in direct line of sight, so you have to reposition it every time the wind shifts — and you can't move it with the tank attached, which means shutting it down each time. At season's end, you disconnect the propane and winterize a 22- to 40-pound machine for indoor storage. As one long-time owner put it, you have to "be handy and expect regular maintenance." For a lot of buyers, that's not a mosquito trap — it's a chore.
